Overview

Ergonomics Training for Supervisors is an onsite workshop designed to help managers and supervisors effectively support and implement their organization’s ergonomics process. This session strengthens leadership understanding of ergonomics principles, injury prevention, and their critical role in fostering a safer, healthier workplace.

Through practical instruction and real-world examples, participants gain the knowledge needed to recognize risk factors, encourage early reporting, and support ergonomic improvements across their teams.

What Participants Will Learn

By the end of the workshop, supervisors and managers will be able to:

  • Describe the key elements of the company’s ergonomics process and the roles of managers, supervisors, and employees
  • Explain management’s responsibility for providing appropriate ergonomic resources
  • Demonstrate how line management can participate in ergonomic risk assessments
  • Define musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and recognize common examples
  • Identify MSD symptoms and understand the importance of early reporting
  • Explain the proper steps for reporting work-related MSD symptoms
  • Identify ergonomic risk factors that contribute to MSDs
  • Understand the importance of neutral posture and its impact on fatigue and injury prevention
  • Describe appropriate medical intervention approaches for MSDs and management’s role in supporting injured employees
  • Recognize simple, practical methods for improving ergonomics in the industrial environment
  • Define when and how to apply engineering controls and administrative controls
