The Ergonomics Center (Center) is a membership-based organization housed in the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at North Carolina State University. We have offices in Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, NC, Tulsa, OK, and Colorado Springs, CO. We provide consulting and training services to clients throughout the U.S. and globally.
Our History
The Center was founded in 1994 as a partnership between NC State University and the NC Department of Labor. It was created to make workplaces safer, more productive, and more competitive by providing practical, cost-effective ways to reduce or eliminate risk factors associated with musculoskeletal disorders.

Vision: To serve as the premiere source for ergonomics expertise, services and education.
Mission: To enhance life and performance through the science of ergonomics.
Our Staff
The Center’s Staff are all masters-level engineers and board-certified professional ergonomists, with over 100 combined years of experience.
Our Approach
The Center strives to build relationships with its clients. Each service is customized to meet an organization’s specific ergonomic needs and corporate goals. With extensive experience in industry, office, and design services, we understand the challenges of managing ergonomics and minimizing ergonomic risk factors in today’s work environments.
Our Clients
The Center has provided training and consulting services to a wide variety of businesses and industries throughout the United States and globally. Many of our clients have been long-standing partners and continue to work with us to improve and enhance the safety of their employees.
Our Contributions
We actively volunteer for a number of regional and national professional societies so that we can contribute to the field of ergonomics. These include the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering (IISE), the National Safety Council (NSC), the Applied Ergonomics Society (AES), the American Society of Safety Professionals, the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), and the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES).
